Program conditions
Welcome to the SEVIS Validation page for all IENA sponsored participants.
Failure to Validate will mean that your immigration entry will be automatically terminated
by SEVIS. IENA has any ability to prevent this automated process.
Validation is a process mandated by SEVIS and your Sponsor. Within 10 days after
your program start date, you must:
- Confirm that you did in fact arrive in the USA
- Confirm that you are fulfilling the conditions of your approved J-1 entry.
- Provide/confirm an accurate US residential address.
- Provide /confirm an accurate name and address of your current employer.
N.B. The program start date on your DS-2019 form may be different from the date
on which you actually entered the USA. If so, the date printed on the DS-2019 in
Section 3 is the one to use for purposes of Validation and not the entry date.
Once you have completed the Validation process, you are still responsible for three
more things -
- Maintaining insurance cover for the entire period of your J-1 entry to the USA (including
any grace period).
- Notifying SEVIS through this website if your US residential address changes.
- Notifying IENA if you leave your current employer before the end of your initial
contract.
You are only permitted to work at an approved Site of Activity. Therefore, if you
need to leave your job or wish to change employers or take a second job, you must
first contact IENA. You may not accept employment at any site or with any employer
unless both the site and the employer have been authorized by your sponsor and those
details have been entered into SEVIS.
All J programs are authorized by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs
(ECA) of the United States Department of State. If you have any questions about
